The active and always-growing Tennis Program now includes seven tennis professionals and three Pro Shop coordinators, as well as eight South Palm Beach County Women’s Tennis Association league teams.

The Pro Shop proudly showcases top lines of tennis equipment and accessories including Nike, Head/Penn, Oakley and Nina Bucci Activewear.

The Tennis Center regularly hosts many tennis tournaments, such as Advanta Super Seniors East Coast Swing, Tennis Love Affair to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, numerous USTA sanctioned events, as well as Andy Roddick’s on-site photo shoots.

Patrick Sheahan - Director of Tennis
A USPTA certified teaching professional since 1992, Patrick became Director of Tennis for The Oaks in 2005. Patrick was a nationally ranked junior and member of the South Carolina Junior Davis Cup Team before starting his successful career as a teacher and coach to many team league champions. Patrick proudly manages an enthusiastic team of tennis professionals at The Oaks.

Kyle LaCroix - Head Tennis Professional
A member of the USPTA since 2004, Kyle is an original staff member of The Oaks. Kyle is heavily involved in all aspects of the tennis operations, from starting the junior program, to teaching private lessons and clinics, and leading the highly successful SPBCWTA teams. Kyle is a graduate of the Ferris State University’s Professional Tennis Management (PTM) program and holds a degree in Marketing. He has also attained an MBA from the University of Michigan. Kyle has worked at four- and five-star resorts, exclusive private clubs, and summer camps during his career. Kyle is a Florida Division tester for the USPTA, and was awarded the distinction of USPTA Florida Tester of the Year for 2009-2010.  

Derek Porter - Associate Tennis Professional
Derek has been an integral part of our tennis team since May 2008. A member of The University of North Carolina Men's Tennis Team from 2002-2006, he has won numerous accolades throughout his collegiate playing career including multiple All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors as well as team captain.

Derek was a nationally ranked junior and played on the #1 ranked high school team in the country, Boca Raton Preparatory Academy, where he was Andy Roddick’s teammate. Besides being a great player, Derek is an excellent teacher. He has coached two Oaks junior players to Division 1 scholarships with more to come. Derek assists the tennis program in all aspects of its success such as juniors, ladies teams, men’s league, racquet customization and private lessons. His work ethic and skills both on and off the court make Derek a favorite of the members and staff.

Diego Marquina - Head Tennis Professional
Bringing with him a wealth of experience and knowledge, Diego joined The Oaks tennis staff in April of 2010.

Diego is a USPTA Professional Certified Coach, an ITF Certified Coach, a PTR National Tester, as well as a Fitness, Strength, Conditioning and Movement Coach – all great assets in managing The Oaks junior program, and enhancing many active tennis programs; such as, Men's Boot Camps, Cardio Tennis, High Performance, and the Ladies & Men's Clinics.

Oaks members benefit from Diego's commitment, professionalism, and his expertise in many different areas of fitness, nutrition, injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Rafael Curbello - Tennis Professional
Rafael joined The Oaks in May of 2010 and is a great asset bringing a wide array of teaching skills that benefit the ladies teams and the junior program. Born in Uruguay, Rafael was a top ranked junior in his native country. As a teaching pro, Rafael is certified by the ITF (International Tennis Federation, Level 1), PTR (Professional Tennis Registry, Professional level) and USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association, P2). He has taught at prestigious clubs in New York and Pennsylvania and was coach at St. Andrews School for three years.
