The tennis club wouldn’t be complete without the combined talent of our certified teaching professionals to help you with your strokes. The Club at the Oaks is seamlessly operational with the pleasant assistance of on-site teaching staff and a pro-shop that features the latest trends in equipment and apparel.
Our popular tennis program is designed to encourage members to become excellent players, using the techniques taught by our skilled, professional staff. We are pleased to introduce our team of talented, award-winning, tennis players/instructors Patrick Sheahan, Kyle LaCroix, Derek Porter, David Beast and Dean Hall.

Patrick
A member of the USPTA since 1992, Patrick was a nationally ranked junior and former member of the South Carolina Junior Davis Cup Team. Since then, he has been and continues to be a teacher and coach to many team league champions. Patrick currently is the Director of Tennis at the Oaks at Boca Raton in Florida.
Kyle
A member of the USPTA since College, Kyle LaCroix is also a certified USPTA Tester and holds a Professional 1 rating within the organization. Kyle was a top-ranked junior and played collegiate tennis before receiving his MBA from the University of Michigan. Kyle has worked at numerous Resorts, Academies and Private Clubs and has been a Tennis Professional at The Oaks at Boca Raton since its Grand Opening in November 2004.
Derek
Derek has been a member of the Oaks tennis staff and an integral part of our team since the summer of 2008. A member of The University of North Carolina Men's tennis Team from 2002-2006, he has won numerous accolades throughout his collegiate playing career including All-ACC honors on several occasions. Derek was a nationally ranked junior and played on the #1 ranked high school team in the country at Boca Raton Preparatory Academy where he was Andy Roddick’s teammate. Derek currently assists the tennis program in all aspects of its success such as juniors, ladies teams, racquet stringing and customization and private lessons.
Diego
For the past ten years Diego has been working beside some of the most recognized names in the business, names such as Gary Kesl, Rick Macci, Nick Saviano, and his friend and mentor Rafael Font De Mora among others, in different top tennis academies and tennis clubs, having the chance of coaching and traveling with world class ITF juniors, college players, WTA and ATP players from all over the world.
Diego is a Certified Professional and Tester for the Professional Tennis Registry, the largest organization of tennis teachers and coaches in the world, he spends a lot of his time teaching, mentoring, testing and certifying other fellow coaches. He is also aUSPTA Professional Certified Coach. Also as the fitness enthusiast he is, Diego is a Pat Etcheberry Certified Tennis Strength, Conditioning, and Movement Coach, and is currently receiving mentorship and education on different areas of fitness, nutrition, injury prevention and rehabilitation, from the Athletes Performance Institute.
Diego joined our team in April 2010 as the Head Professional. He has been a great addition to our staff and is playing a key roll on reviving and starting different programs for our members.
Rafa
Born In Uruguay (South America).
Play tennis as a junior in with a career high ranking of #2 in Uruguay at the age of 17 and #1 of regional division at 13 years old.
Named most valuable player of the state (Maldonado) in 1996.
Graduated at the age of 18 from Medicine School and went on to college to study Physical Educational.
As a teaching pro Rafael is certified by the ITF (International Tennis Federation, Level 1), PTR (Professional Tennis Registry, Professional level) and USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association, P2)
Head coach for more than 6 years at Deuce Tennis Club (Uruguay) teaching a wide range of players.
From 2003 to 2005 worked in Philadelphia with summer camps and in 2005 became the tennis Director for Canyon Ranch.
In the same Year he moved to New York taking the position of a Head Pro at the "Sport and Wellness Tennis Club", working with a wide range of players from beginners to high competitive level, adults and kids, taking in 2007 the 3.0 team and making them Sectional Champions, State Champions and went to play National’s finishing top 19 team.
Moved to Florida in December 2007 to work in "Hillsboro Mile" Tennis Club and in 2008 worked as a head coach in Saint Andrews School for 3 years.
On February 4th of 2010 God blessed Rafael with a healthy baby (Lucas José Curbelo) and hopefully more to come.
